Davis High School, Library and Classroom Building
The new Classroom Building at Davis Senior High School combines a 2-story, 18,000‑SF classroom wing and a 1-story, 15,000‑SF library. As a technology hub for the campus, access to the library is available from every classroom site as well as providing outreach to the University and other resources via the Internet. The flexibility of the classroom layout allows for future expansion. Natural light inspired the interior design of the building. The classroom wing is strategically sited to add protection to the library and serve as a shield from southern and western solar rays.
The classrooms have windows that are protected by a series of sun controls. This project was developed as part of a facilities master plan and programming studies for Davis High School that also included future plans for the remodeling, modernization, and new construction of a gymnasium and Fine Arts Center. The architectural/engineering team worked directly with the District’s Business Manager, Director of Facilities, and their selected staff, board and community representatives in the coordination, planning, and implementation process.
